Summer Fashion Lab Housing
LIM College will be offering housing to mature, responsible students in our state-of-the-art 1760 Third Avenue Residence, known as "1760," located between East 97th and 98th Streets. The residence hall features secure, air-conditioned, double and triple rooms with private bathrooms. There is 24-hour front desk security and ID card access to enter the building and rooms.
Summer Conference Assistants (SCAs) are present in the residence hall during the Summer Fashion Lab. SCAs are similar to Residence Advisors (RAs) meaning they work with the students staying in housing, but SCAs are hired to work specifically with the Summer Lab students. They hold evening office hours and perform nightly curfew check-ins for all Fashion Lab students. A professional LIM College staff member is also on-call every evening in case of emergencies. There are weekday evening and weekend organized activities coordinated by the SCAs that students are strongly encouraged to attend. There are shared kitchens on designated floors of the residence hall and all rooms are equipped with a refrigerator, freezer and microwave.
Fashion Lab students living in the residence hall will not be chaperoned all day and night. They will have free time outside of class to complete assignments, participate in college sponsored activities or explore the city with friends and family. They must however be present for evening curfew and attend class each day.
How to Register for Housing:
Students can register for housing on-line only after they have registered for a class. Students participating in the non-credit program must be registered for two courses in a week in order to reside in the residence hall. After housing registration and payment is completed, you will receive an email confirmation that will include a link to the website where the housing forms are located. The forms must be printed, filled out mailed back to the College via e-mail or mail. No faxes please. Housing is only guaranteed once the forms are received. Roommate requests can be made during the on-line registration process.
Housing Check-in, Orientation & Move-out:
Housing move-in is on the Sunday before classes between the hours of 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Move-in is followed by a mandatory orientation orchestrated by the SCAs. Housing Orientation covers the rules and regulations of the residence hall, curfew, and activities and concludes with a guided subway ride to the college campus where classes will be held. Orientation will start at 4pm each Sunday.
Move-out is offered Friday evening from 7-10pm and on Saturday from 8-10am. Please print the forms at the bottom of this page, fill them out and mail them in to the Residence Hall at 1760 3rd Avenue New York, NY 10029.
Housing Curfew & Regulations (New Procedure):
Fashion Lab students under 18 years of age must abide by curfew regulations. Curfew is 10 pm Sunday through Thursday and 11 pm Friday and Saturday. Curfew is strictly enforced and students may be asked to leave the program if they are not present for curfew.
Students may be excused from curfew only if an Off-Campus Permission form has been signed by their parent/legal guardian and submitted on time to the Office of Housing & Residence Life. The Off-Campus Permissions Form must be submitted in the designated drop box located in the Office of Housing & Residence Life. This form must be submitted no later than 1:00 pm the day of your request. Housing staff personnel will follow up with a confirmation phone call between 4:00 and 6:00 pm of the requested date.
