Graduate Studies Full-Time Faculty

Dr. Susan C. Baxter

Dean of Graduate Studies

Dr. Susan Baxter was named as LIM College’s Dean of Graduate Studies in 2017. Previously, she served as Chair of the College’s Marketing, Management & Finance department.

Dr. Baxter’s areas of research and scholarship include globalizing business education, diversity in advertising, consumer-brand relationships, distance learning, student learning styles and the effect on performance in distance learning, and the impact of HIV on the global workforce.

She has authored several works dealing with communication and marketing for special populations, including LGBT consumers. She has been quoted by the Associated Press, written for Echelon magazine, and is a member of the American Marketing Association, the Society for Marketing Advances, the Academy of Marketing Science, and the Marketing Educators Association.

The recipient of a Doctorate of Business Administration in Marketing from Argosy University-Sarasota, Dr. Baxter also holds a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Healthcare Management from the University of Phoenix, a Master of Science degree in Psychology from St. Cloud State University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the College of St. Benedict.

John Keane


John Keane joined LIM College as an adjunct faculty member in 2013 and has taught courses spanning a wide range of topics, including marketing, strategy, brand management, public relations, new media, advertising/promotion, and global marketing.

John has over 30 years of experience at major media companies such as Time Inc., Conde’ Nast, Bloomberg LP and the Bauer Media Group. Currently, he is the Director of Research and Insights at The Internationalist, which specializes in connecting global practitioners of marketing through content and case studies.

Prior to joining The Internationalist, John served as the Executive Director, Corporate Marketing and Strategy for the Bauer Media Group, overseeing marketing, brand strategy, sales development and market research for the U.S. division of the global media company. His career also includes senior-level marketing positions at GQ, Gourmet and People magazines.

Professor Keane holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Georgetown University and an MBA in Executive Management from St. John’s University. 

Dr. David Loranger

Assistant Professor

Dr. David Loranger served as an adjunct faculty member in LIM’s Marketing, Management & Finance department and Fashion Merchandising department from 2011 to 2016. After rejoining as adjunct faculty in 2018, he soon joined the Center for Graduate Studies as a full-time Assistant Professor.

Dr. Loranger is an active researcher of cultural apparel products and generational consumption. He has presented his research at various conferences, including the International Textile and Apparel Association (ITAA), the American Collegiate Retailing Association (ACRA), the Textile Society of America’s Symposium (TSA) and the Popular Culture Association (PCA). He has written case studies and articles that have been published in the Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, Journal of Fashion, Style & Popular Culture, Clothing Cultures, as well as Bloomsbury Fashion Business Cases Collection. In addition to serving on the editorial boards for the International Journal of Retail & Distribution Management, the Journal of Fashion, Style, and Popular Culture, and the Critical Studies in Men's Fashion journal, he is the recipient of the ACRA/International Journal of Retail & Distribution Management 2018 Best Paper Award.

Prior to becoming a full-time academic, Dr. Loranger spent 17 years in retail and design, working as a Merchandise Manager for Saks Fifth Avenue, Loro Piana, Barneys New York and Bergdorf Goodman, and owning The Fashion Collective textile design studio.

Dr. Loranger received his his PhD in Apparel, Merchandising and Design from Iowa State University, and his MPS in Global Fashion Management from SUNY Fashion Institute of Technology.
